On importance of prevention

Making Prevention Pay

Visual FootcareTM has developed an Innovative and Visual LEAP Program

Prevent

By stratifying patients based upon risk profiles, clinicians can more effectively target preventive care to those who
need it most

Ulceration and Amputation is Preventable

All major Diabetes organizations and Clinical Practice Guidelines agree that significant reductions in amputations can be achieved through the adoption of an effective Lower Extremity Amputation Prevention (LEAP) Program that combines

  • Effective Prevention At-Risk Foot Assessment and Stratification
  • Effective Patient Education and Care
  • Daily Patient Self-Examination; and
  • Footwear Evaluation

The Visual Footcare
LEAP Program

At-Risk Foot Assessment and Stratification

  • Our complete CDFE Program finds those at-risk patients who are currently undetected within the larger diabetic population.
  • Standardized, objective and easy-to-administer exam promotes broad adoption by physicians and nurse practitioners.
  • Promotes accurate documentation, charting and coding

Effective Patient Education and Care

  • Visual results intuitively educate Patients as to their at-risk conditions
  • The Visual Footcare CDFE Program includes take-home education materials and self-assessment reinforcement, including "footprints" that clearly identify the high risk areas of their feet.
  • Enhanced understanding promotes increased patient compliance with preventive care recommendations.

Daily Patient Self-Examination

  • At-risk patients who have lost the "gift of pain" must somehow monitor their feet for signs of inflammation, the precursor symptom of infection and pending ulceration.
  • Like a glucose meter for the foot, TempStat® is the only at-home temperature monitoring device specifically approved by the FDA to detect signs of inflammation on the soles of the feet.

Footwear Evaluation

  • The Visual Footcare CDFE Program simplifies the prescription of diabetic footwear and insoles by any healthcare provider.
  • Covers DMEPOS requirements and all of the required examinations specified in Medicare PQRI Measures 126, 127 and 163.
  • Provides required charting documentation to withstand chart reviews and Medicare audits.
