Our Program
Visual Footcare™, together with its team of leading researchers and clinicians, has developed a cost-effective, objective and completely standardized Lower Extremity Amputation Prevention (LEAP) Program to identify, stratify, educate and empower patients with diabetes at increased risk of developing foot ulcers.
The Problem
There has historically been a failure to implement effective LEAP Programs for three primary reasons:
- Ineffective Risk Stratification -- Healthcare providers are not performing recommended comprehensive diabetic foot exams due to its complexity and subjectivity, resulting in a failure to identify at-risk patients and accurately chart their medical conditions.
- Ineffective Patient Education and Care -- Patients do not generally understand or acknowledge their at-risk conditions and as a result fail to care for them once they leave the clinic. This results in a failure to utilize required diabetic shoes, insoles and moisturizers.
- Ineffective Self-Examination -- Even if at-risk patients are identified and instructed to self-monitor their feet at home, they are not given an effective means to do so and are unable to prevent complications from developing.
The Visual Footcare Solution – An Effective LEAP Program
- Effective Risk Stratification -- Our easy-to-use exam tools simplify and standardize the CDFE with objective tools that break down the barriers to broad adoption by healthcare providers and improves charting of diabetes-related complications and disease states.
- Effective Patient Education and Care -- Our visually compelling exam tools allow patients to actually “see” their at-risk conditions so they better understand them and willingly comply with preventive care recommendations. Provides the necessary qualification exam for the prescription of appropriate offloading and care solutions. Educational experience is nforced with take-home “footprints” clearly identifying the high risk areas of their feet.
- Effective Daily Self-Examination and Management -- Our TempStat® thermal imaging device provides patients with the ability to visually examine their feet at home for signs of inflammation and other damage before an ulcer develops. Provides a patient with the ability to self-manage their condition so they can take preventive measures before a problem occurs.
